KATHY PRATT'S GENEALOGY
In the beginning was Adam and Eve. After a time the Lord asked Noah to build the ark and fill it with pairs of green alligators, long neck geese, humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees, cats, and rats, and elephants. All was going well when the rain started. The ark was ready and Noah loaded up with 2 green alligators, 2 long neck geese, 2 humpty- backed camels, 2 chimpanzees, 2 cats, 2 rats, and 2 elephants. Feeling forlorn, but to his dismay, Noah couldn't see any unicorns. He looked out through the driving rain. The silly unicorns were kicking and splashing and playing games. Noah waited as long as he could but the time finally came he could wait no more. Noah cried out "Close the door". As the ark began to float away with the tide, Noah looked out and saw the unicorns standing on a rock looking so forlorn. The water came down and sort of floated them away. And that is why you will never see a unicorn (paraphrased from the song The Unicorn by the Irish Rovers)
Luckily for me my ancestors were not unicorns. As you read on, you will find names of Kings, Queens, Counts and Countesses, Barons and Baronesses, as well as Knights. But perhaps more importantly, you will find brave people who were part of pioneering the world. Not just the United States, but also different parts of Europe.
You will also see names of people who, although they may not have a title are nevertheless just as important in the development of the world. Many of my ancestors arrived in the United States of America before it was know by that name.
As you are aware our forefathers came to this country in search of religious freedom. They encountered many obstacles during their quest. Skipping ahead here through allot of history the American Revolutionary War began. I had ancestors fighting on both sides; as Loyalists and as Patriots.
Skipping ahead even further, the North and the South came to arms and the Civil War began. Once again, families were torn apart .....and I had ancestors fighting on both sides. I guess my predecessors followed in their ancestors' footsteps and some, once again, went in search of religious freedom and a place they could call home. These would be the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints aka LDS aka Mormons.
